Mindless act of cruelty inflicted on badger over the weekend
During the weekend a mindless act of wildlife cruelty was carried out in the Malton area. A female (sow) badger was found in an extremely distressed state in Westow near Malton on Sunday morning. She was very seriously injured and the only option was to take her to Battleflatts vets where she was put to sleep immediately.
Dormice sleep again in the Yorkshire Dales
(15 October 2008) One of Britain’s best loved, but most elusive mammals - the hazel dormouse - is back in the Yorkshire Dales National Park following a successful re-introduction project. It is 100 years since the creatures - made famous in Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland - were last recorded in the Park.

(30 June 2008) Earlier this week, National Nature Reserve Manager Craig Ralston was contacted by Jean Thorpe, who runs a wildlife rehabilitation centre, (Ryedale Rehabilitation) who told him that a Peregrine falcon chick had fallen from its nest 16m above the ground in a Yorkshire quarry. She asked Craig if it could be returned to its nest.
