Flamborough Head No Take Zone (NTZ) byelaw given Ministerial approval

Natural England announce important update on the Flamborough Head No Take Zone

On the 27 July 2010, North Eastern Sea Fisheries Committee (NESFC) received confirmation that the Flamborough Head No Take Zone (NTZ) byelaw has now been signed off by the Secretary of State. The Byelaw prohibits the removal of all seafish (including shellfish) from the NTZ by any means whatsoever. The NTZ runs from Dane’s Dyke to Sewerby Steps and 700m out to sea from the cliff base. Its purpose is to assess the impact of NTZs on fisheries management and marine conservation within the NESFC district. Natural England will work with NESFC to inform both the fishing industry and the public about, and raise awareness of, the NTZ.
