Working Together to Tackle Environmental Change
The Cultural and Environment Partnerships for Change Event
Culture South West and Natural England have arranged what promises to be an inspiring and thought provoking event on the 3 and 4 March. The event will bring together people from the region’s cultural and environmental sectors to look at new and exciting ways of working together to tackle environmental change.
Libby Grundy, Joint Executive Director, Culture South West, said: "We believe there is much to be gained through more collaboration between our two sectors and this event will help to realise the potential of cultural activity to change hearts, minds and attitudes on sustainable development."
Janette Ward, Regional Director, Natural England wants to break down the boundaries between arts, science and nature, and collaborate on practical activities to promote enhancement of the natural environment.
She said: "The event will help us learn about the environmental challenges facing the South West, share information on what agencies and others are already doing, and inspire us to take collective action. By developing joint initiatives we can make a real difference to the natural and cultural landscape of the South West."
To illustrate their commitment to the environment, attendees will travel by train and then bio-taxi to Bedruthan Steps Hotel which stands on the dramatic cliffs of the North Cornwall coast and is a "Gold accredited" Green Tourism Business having also won many awards for sustainable practices.
Environmental and cultural champions from across the region will be taking part in this event that "walks the talk" and places the South West at the forefront of leadership in addressing environmental change. The South West region is renowned for creative and environmental excellence. In bringing wisdom and experience to work up innovative, creative and environmental initiatives, the region will continue to provide new and exciting ways to address environmental change.
