North West Regional Schedule
The Natural Economy Northwest is a multi-partner initiative led by Natural England, the Northwest Development Agency and the SITA trust (which supports community and environmental improvement projects).
Natural England's Character Area Climate Change project aims to identify the local responses required to safeguard our natural environment and our enjoyment of it. We looked at four specific Character Areas in England, including Cumbria High Fells, that represent contrasting habitats and landscapes that are likely to be affected by climate change.
Regional Landscape Partnership
The North West Regional Landscape Partnership has been set up informally in 2009 and is in the process of development. Natural England hopes that the partnership will encourage joint working to increase understanding of landscape issues, to influence relevant policies, plans and strategies, and to promote the use of landscape character tools across the region.
In the North West, Natural England is encouraging visitors to the countryside to travel by more sustainable modes because it can be healthier, more fun and it helps to protect our most valued landscapes.
