18 June 2010
Children are invited to a wildlife spectacle on Saturday 26 June, to learn all about Lathkill’s marvellous meadows, its fabulous flowers and its wonderful wildlife!
The free one-day event will be held at Lathkill Dale National Nature Reserve in Derbyshire, where children of all ages will get to learn about the importance of haymeadows, through art activities, drystone walling and even get to see a tractor and baler in action!
The day will run from 10.30am until 4pm, with two guided sessions to take place at 10.30am until 12.30pm and another at 2pm until 4pm.
Families are welcome to drop in at any point during the day and spend anything between 15 minutes and an hour exploring the area. Natural England staff and volunteers will be on hand to help. All activities are free and booking is recommended.
To find the event base, follow the B5055 out of Monyash towards Bakewell and park half a mile along. Follow the path across the fields to the edge of the reserve. For the guided sessions, meet at Monyash at the end of the Dale, as the footpath commences. Additional parking is available on site.
“Marvellous Meadows” is one of Natural England’s “Let’s Go Wild” events taking place at the reserve during the year. To find out more, visit Natural England’s Events Finder or contact Paul Maddox, Community Outreach Adviser for Derbyshire Dales National Nature Reserve on 0300 060 4351.
