National Character Areas – defining England’s natural boundaries
As part of our commitment to the Natural Environment White Paper, Natural England has embarked upon a ground breaking piece of work to update its National Character Area (NCA) profiles, to better integrate our environmental work and make it accessible at a local level. NCAs divide England into 159 natural regions each defined by a unique combination of landscape, biodiversity, geodiversity and economic and cultural activity.
