Avian influenza outbreak in Suffolk
Poultry found dead on a farm at Upper Holton, near Lowestoft in Suffolk, contained the highly pathogenic Asian strain H5N1 avian flu virus, similar to the virus found in Hungary in January.
Natural England has been supporting the Defra response since Friday 2 February. We have been giving advice on management and control of wildlife on the farm and monitoring birds on our National Nature Reserves (NNRs) in the area.
Anyone seeking advice on wildlife management in the area should contact the Wildlife Licensing Unit on 0845 6014523.
