Natural England, a new flagship environmental organisation
Natural England, a powerful new environmental champion, is launched on 2 October 2006.
Natural England is here to ensure that the natural environment is conserved, enhanced, and managed for the benefit of present and future generations, thereby contributing to sustainable development.
It is responsible for ensuring that England's unique natural environment, including its land, flora and fauna, freshwater and marine environments, geology and soils, are protected and improved. It also has the responsibility to help people enjoy, understand and access the natural environment.
Natural England brings together English Nature, the environment activities of the Rural Development Service and the Countryside Agency’s Landscape, Access and Recreation division.
You can find out more about the work of Natural England on this new website. It includes links through to the existing websites of the three founding organisations.
