Natural England - Evidence work area: marine

Evidence work area: marine

In this area Natural England’s aim is to ensure that our marine environment is better understood, valued and protected, and managed more sustainably. This takes account of existing but also new external drivers, particularly the Marine and Coastal Access Act, Marine Strategy Framework Directive, and reform of the Common Fisheries Policy.

The main focus of our evidence programme is to support delivery of an ecologically coherent network of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), promote sustainable use in key sectors, and contribute to understanding and management of the wider environment.
