Environmental Stewardship (ES)

Environmental Stewardship is an agri-environment scheme that offers funding to farmers and land managers in return for effective environmental land management.

Sites of Specific Scientific Interest (SSSI)

Sites of Specific Scientific Interest are the country's very best wildlife and geological sites.

Catchment Sensitive Farming (CSF)

Catchment Sensitive Farming is a joint project between the Environment Agency and Natural England. CSF delivers practical solutions to enable farmers to take voluntary action to reduce diffuse water pollution from agriculture to protect water bodies and the environment.

Energy Crops Scheme

The Energy Crops Scheme provides funding to establish energy crops e.g. miscanthus and short rotation coppice for personal / local use or to supply energy providers.

Other Schemes

There are a number of schemes which are still in operation but are no longer open to new applicants. These include Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESA) Scheme and Countryside Stewardship Scheme (CSS).
