Natural England - Catchment Sensitive Farming contacts

Catchment Sensitive Farming contacts

The project is being carried out through a network of Catchment Sensitive Farming Officers (CSFOs) and Catchment Partnerships. The CSFOs are responsible for individual catchments, coordinated at River Basin District level.

Catchment Sensitive Farming Officers

The Catchment Sensitive Farming Officer role includes:

  • encouraging changes in behaviours and practices by engaging with farmers through workshops, seminars, farm demonstrations, self-help groups and undertaking 1:1 farm visits;
  • co-ordinating Catchment Steering Group activity;
  • undertaking communications and publicity;
  • signposting of agri-environment schemes and other incentives; and
  • assisting farmers with CSF Capital Grant applications.

CSF river basin coordinators

The project also has one or more CSF river basin coordinators in each river basin district. River basin co-coordinators operate at a strategic level and ensure that the CSF advice and incentive programme:

  • aligns to the river basin planning process;
  • is championed both within priority catchments and more widely across the district; and
  • reflects the agreed outcomes on diffuse water pollution from agriculture issues identified though catchment appraisal and review.
