A family of unique trails: Discussion Paper on the Future Management of National Trails from April 2013

The consultation closed at midnight on 5 July 2012.

Natural England has been reviewing the management arrangements for National Trails with the aim of:

  • Exploring how we can achieve best value and the most effective use of resources;
  • Making the best of opportunities for engaging local people; and
  • Developing and implementing flexible management models that reflect the needs of National Trails now and in the future.

As a result of extensive informal engagement with our partners, on 11 May 2012 Natural England launched a targeted consultation on proposals for the future management of National Trails, aimed at our partners who are involved in the current management of National Trails, as well as trail user groups.
