Natural England - The Country Parks Network Steering Group

The Country Parks Network Steering Group

The Network exists as support for practioners, it is therefore important that practioners have a strong voice in its content and development.

The Steering Group is made up of network members who have a direct interest in country parks. They represent a variety of organisations from across England, and range from site managers and service managers responsible for delivery through to practitioners from sector national, policy and funding bodies.

Current membership of the Steering Group

Chaired by Natural England, the Steering Group has a number of functions which include:

  1. Establish and raise standards. In particular the group has supported the establishment and management of the Country Parks Accreditation Scheme. The group provides ongoing guidance and advice to Natural England on the Country Parks Accreditation Scheme and it’s underpinning criteria.

  2. Promotion and Awareness. Championing Country Parks, including providing a practioner view on emerging sector developments/policies.

  3. Encourage Collaboration. Promoting networking amongst site managers and people interested in country parks.

  4. Review and Progression. Maintain an overview of the Country Parks Network, its structures and functions and input into their management.

For further detail, see the current set of Steering Group Terms of Reference.

The Steering Group come together either face-to face or by telephone conference on average once every quarter.
