What is the difference between an Accredited Country Park and a site listed on the Country Parks Network pages?
Two listings of Country Parks appear on the Natural England website:
The Country Parks Accreditation Scheme has been established to recognise those sites that offer the core facilities and services expected of a true country park.
Country Park Network Members are invited to submit details of sites they manage that they call or consider Country Parks. The Network welcomes this as it helps raise awareness of these sites and the number of sites that exist. But unless the site name also appears in the list of accredited sites , these sites are not Accredited Country Parks as recognised by Natural England.
Country Parks are also shown on Natural England’s Nature on The Map
pages. Accredited Country Parks are highlighted, with the remainder being sites that are considered or called a country park by their managers, but have not been confirmed as delivering the facilities and functions expected of an Accredited Country Park.
