Health and Safety for farm visitors
Farms are inspirational places to learn about the natural environment and where our food comes from. There is no reason why children or other visitors should not visit farms because of Health and Safety concerns providing a few basic safety rules are followed.
The HSE leaflet “Farms Are Not Playgrounds” is aimed at school children and sets out the top ten hazards on a farm. The leaflet is downloadable from the HSE web-site along with other leaflets and resources for farmers hosting farm visits and farm visitors HSE advice

There is an interactive farm game for Junior Students on the Health Protection Agency’s Web-site which teaches children to be aware of sources of infection on a farm.
