Natural England wants to ensure that everybody has the opportunity to use, understand, engage with and be inspired by the natural environment. We also want an increasing number of people to take action to conserve it.

There are many places where you can enjoy the natural environment, whether you're looking for healthy exercise, the challenge of a long walk, a horse or cycle ride, or whether you want to experience nature, or appreciate its quiet tranquillity and inspiring landscapes.

Whether you might be interested in Country Parks, National Nature Reserves, Local Nature Reserves or Areas of Outstanding National Beauty – or perhaps something else – there’s a lot in the English countryside to be explored. Some of it might even be closer to home than you think ...!

    Natural England welcomes greenspace mapping plans

    (9 September 2014)  The Deputy Prime Minister last week announced that Ordnance Survey is to compile and release new data that will enable every publicly accessible green space in England and Wales to be mapped, allowing anyone with access to the internet to find the location of their nearest park and other green spaces.

    Cornwall’s natural environment to be interpreted in Cornish

    (22 November 2013)  Natural England and MAGA, the Cornish Language Partnership, have signed a Statement of Intent which will see Natural England incorporating more of the Cornish language into its nature conservation interpretation materials within Cornwall.
