Geological Interest

A wide variety of coastal landforms and associated habitat types are present at Gibraltar Point. The location, on the north-western fringe of The Wash is relatively sheltered and coastal structures such as tidal flats, sand dunes and a spit have developed as a result of the interaction between coastal and tidal processes. The habitats present support a wide variety of plants and animals and clearly demonstrate the dynamic and complex relationships that exist between sediments, physical and biological processes over a range of timescales.
