Dungeness NNR

Dungeness is one of the largest shingle landscapes in the world.

Where: Kent (on the coastal border with East Sussex)

Main habitat: Coastal, lowland grassland, maritime.

Management: Although most NNRs are managed by Natural England, some are wholly or partly managed by other bodies approved by Council, under Section 35 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Dungeness NNR is jointly owned and managed by Natural England and the RSPB . As well as the management by the RSPB, the Romney Marsh Countryside Projectexternal link undertakes some management on behalf of Natural England.
