1 February 2013
This highly acclaimed photography competition is now open and ready to receive your entries for 2013. Be inspired by our gallery showing spellbinding wildlife imagery from last year.
Now in its fifth year, the British Wildlife Photography Awards (BWPA) was established to celebrate the great wealth and diversity of our country’s wildlife through outstanding imagery; and to recognise the talents of photographers practising in Britain today. Natural England has supported the competition every year in different ways since 2009, and BWPA continues to raise the bar in setting a high standard for British wildlife photography.
There is a wide range of categories to help you focus your imagination, including the chance to film wildlife using HD video, and a special awards category for young people.
With a prize fund of up to £20,000 and the overall winner receiving a cash prize of £5,000, winners and commended entrants will also have their work showcased in a touring exhibition and published in a stunning coffee table book. The Awards ceremony and launch of the exhibition will take place at the prestigious Mall Galleries, London, in September 2013.
For details about how to enter, a full description of categories, shooting tips and terms & conditions, visit BWPA’s website.
The closing date is 4 May 2013.
The competition is sponsored by: Buglife, Canon, City of London, Countryside Jobs Service, Forestry Commission England, Outdoor Photography Magazine, Paramo, RSPB Wildlife Explorers, Sky+HD, Sparsholt College Hampshire, The Wildlife Trusts and WWF. It is supported by: AA Publishing, Natural England and Wildlife Extra.
