From October – December 2011 we received feedback on the following issues via our online feedback form.
Another request for reprinting the Countryside Code came through this quarter as well as a concern that our publications should have consistent abbreviations i.e. HLS is Higher Level Stewardship, not Scheme as had been published). We also received requests to be added to the Land Management Update newsletter, our attention was drawn to an issue with a search engine and there was a complaint regarding incorrect publishing of legal rights of access to rivers.
Contacting Natural England has been a slight concern this quarter with enquiries as to how to get in touch with the Cambridge office and a suggestion that staff mobile numbers be put onto our web page. Planning
Complaints were received regarding development at Tilbury Marshes, our opposition of extension to operating hours and costs of an Inquiry at Lymington.
There were a couple of complaints regarding advice given for trapping mink and herring gulls.
Two NNRs received requests from the public to refresh and replace their trails signage with suggestions as to how to create extra income. There were 14 complaints and enquiries on Natural England’s position following BBC4’s “Tales from the National Parks” programme featuring the Honister Slate Mine. Complaints were also received about the introduction of ponies to an NNR for grazing, an accusation of arson and disturbance caused by the erection of fencing at an NNR and the disturbance caused to locals.
There were a couple of complaints with regards to reimbursement for damage caused by bat volunteer and bird records. We also received a suggestion for signage at a seal colony to prevent distress to seals caused by budding photographers.
We received one message of support in favour of Marine Conservation Status in areas on the Kent coast.
There was one request for funding details of the pilot Trailblazer scheme.
